With 187 individual MacTighernans identified, this is an attempt to map the MacTighrnan families and their relationship to each other if any exist.  The below MacTighernan map shows the Genetic DNA mapping of 72 MacTighernans that fall into 14 separate DNA groups from 10 different countries. The 2nd map shows a Geographic origin map with only the identified individual MacTighernans positioned by longitude and latitude on their family's original townland in a small area of Connacht if known. The Great MacTighernan Mysteries, http://mctiernan.com/10mysteries.htm

Below is the geographic map of each MacTighernan townland of origin if known. With 187 MacTighernans identified, 72 have taken the DNA test, 54 of the 187 know the name of their townland of origin and 71 of the 187 know their county of origin. Also shown are the six that only know their parish.

Note: The below satellite image is a jpg file so it is what you see with no ability to click down for more information on the MacTighernan in each of the balloons.  If you run the free version of Google Earth on your computer let me know and I will email you the Google Earth file which will enable you to click on each of the balloons and see which MacTighernan it is along with their other information such as DNA Group, townland, civil parish, county and country of immigration if the family left Ireland. The 3 white pins are for the three historically extent MacTighernans of Rockfield, Co Leitrim, Tullyhunco, Co Cavan and the MacTighernans of Co Fermanagh.  See legend below for 14 distinct DNA Groups of MacTighernans in 10 countries.

On the satellite image below are the known original townlands of MacTighernans spread over a 450 square mile area.  Due to the density, what looks like one balloon may actually be 2 or 3 balloons one behind the other as some MacTighernan families originate from the same townland or their townlands border each other.   The displayed balloons below include the 6 MacTighernans that only know their parish. Each balloon offers more information on each MacTighernan by clicking on it when you use the free Google Earth program. Lough Allen is right in the middle of Co Leitrim and under the Leitrim title in the below image.  The yellow line is the border of Northern Ireland.
